Medicare.gov - Select a Search Option
On this screen you can choose to enter specific Medicare information (social security number, effective dates, last name, date of birth, zip code, etc.) for a personalized search (“Begin Personalized Search") or do a General Search. Medicare call this Step 1. For them, everything up to now was pre-search. We call this page Step 3.
We will select “Begin General Search," although Medicare recommends that you use the “Personalized Search."
We caution against enter such personal information if you are simply searching for a plan. Especially if you are using a public computer or using your own computer in a public place. Your Medicare information can always be entered at the end of your search if you should decide to enroll immediately.
