What is the TrOOP Cost or True Out Of Pocket Costs
TrOOP is the annual "True Out of Pocket Costs" are those Medication costs that can be used to calculate your coverage.
In general, TrOOP includes all payments for Medications listed on your plan's formulary and purchased at a Network or participating Pharmacy.
TrOOP is important because after spending $4050 out-of-pocket in 2008, you would be eligible for Catastrophic Coverage that provides your Medications at a much reduced cost (even as low as $2.25 to $5.6 per prescription).
TrOOP includes the amount of your initial deductible (if any) and your co-payments.
What is excluded from TrOOP?
- Medication purchased outside of the Formulary - these drugs could be medications that are not covered by your selected plan
- Medication not covered by all Medicare Part D plans - for instance, over-the-counter cold or flu prescriptions
-
- Drugs purchased outside of the United States
